During her recent visit to Guyana, Miss United Continents Guyana 2017 Divya Yabindranauth visited the Shaheed Boys and Girls Orphanage in Kitty, Georgetown to spend time with the children who are currently housed at the institution. In her own words, Divya stated that “It was heartbreaking to watch how appreciative they were for the little goodies that I distributed to them; the excitement I saw in their eyes made me realized how privilege I am”. Divya is calling on all overseas based Guyanese to visit the orphanage when they are in Guyana. “If you are ever in Guyana, I encourage you to take some time to visit these children and provide whatever assistance you can, they need the love and support in every way possible.”

Twenty five year old Rafieya Aasieya Husain was crowned Miss Universe-Guyana 2017 at the end of the first ever National Pageant to be held in the home of the Miss Universe Pageant. The former Miss World 2014 top eleven finalist and Queen of the Caribbean also romped of with the Most Elegant, Best Interview and Popularity side awards during the event held at York College Performing Arts Center in Queens, New York. Rafieya has been on the top of every pageant aficionados list who are monitoring this year’s aspirants for the 66th Annual Miss Universe Pageant to be held on November 26, 2017. 
The finalists in the upcoming Miss Universe Guyana 2017 Pageant have completed the pre-judging portion competitions. Yesterday, the delegates competed in the Interview segment where they were given three minutes to impress the judges. The preliminaries concluded today with the Swimsuit and Evening Gown Competitions. The scores from the pre-judging will help determine who will earn a spot in the top 10 and eventually move one step closer towards winning the coveted crown. 
The Miss Universe Guyana 2017 Competition has officially commenced in New York City. Over the weekend, the finalist were sashed and made appearances at various events in the Borough of Queens, New York. These events includes Clash of the Titians at Club Amazura, the Annual Albion Reunion at Baisley Pond Park and the Chutney Music Festival at Roy Wilkins Park.
